Virginia 'Ginny' Caldwell

Virginia “Ginny” Caldwell, 85, of Topeka, went to be with our Lord & Savior on Oct 9, 2022.

Ginny was born October 13, 1936, in Big Spring, Texas, the daughter of Joseph S. and Lois A. (Sears) Carpenter. She graduated from Big Spring High School and attended Howard Community College where she received an Associate of Arts Degree in bookkeeping. She worked at a cotton gin and later served as a deputy sheriff in Big Spring. Ginny and Harold (Hal) Caldwell married on July 27, 1962 and were married over 53 years until Hal’s death in 2016. They lived in several states and completed two tours in Germany while Hal was in the service, finally settling in Alta Vista, Kansas.

Later moving to Manhattan, Ginny and Hal owned and operated Hal’s Plumbing. Ginny attended courses through Kansas State University studying Horticulture and Natural Resources. She loved her dogs, cats, chickens, gardening, flowers, nature, puzzles, and collecting angel figurines and Christmas Village decorations. She was devoted to her family and her faith, an active church member, and a loving guide to her girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Survivors include her two daughters Cindy Kay Arnett and husband Dale, and Wendy L. Henault and husband Perry; grandchildren, Jessica Dawn Bradstreet, Jeremie Kay Orona Stanley (Derek), Christopher Joseph Bradstreet (Bridget), Brendan Henault (Jessica), Trace Henault, and great-grandchildren; Tyler Orona Stanley, Alexander Bradstreet, Azkadelia Bradstreet, and Veronica Orona Stanley; and her companion for the past three years, Ron Bruce.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister, Eugene Carpenter and Marilyn Fortson and her husband Harold Caldwell.
