Brenda Sandra Thompson, age 71, of Manhattan, passed away on December 14, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice House in Manhattan.

She was born March 16, 1952, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Brenda graduated from Harrison High School in Colorado Springs, CO.

Brenda was married to her childhood sweetheart Gary Thompson on June 6, 1979, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They traveled the world together with Gary’s military service. They settled down in Manhattan in 1992.

Brenda was a homemaker when their children were young. She was devoted to her family, loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed working on crafts, gardening, cooking, going for long walks with her dog, decorating for celebrations and taking her grandchildren to the park.

Brenda gave her life to Christ in 1979. She became the administrative assistant at the First Assembly of God Church in Manhattan and remained there until her retirement. Brenda planted the seeds of Jesus to many, many people during that time. She was a strong prayer warrior for the Lord and was always working on a Bible study. She had a gentle spirit, was kindhearted, sweet, had a great sense of humor and had a warm smile for everyone. “Good Job You!”

She is survived by her loving husband Gary Thompson; two daughters: Rian Thompson and Lorien Davis, both of Manhattan; three grandchildren: Cainan Davis, Brynlei Davis and Ridley Bishop; and four siblings: Rosita Hendricks, Bregitte Bishop, Inge Tumbaga, Lonnie Matheny and their spouses all of Colorado Springs, CO; along with many nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Emmi (Hanss), step-father Charles Michael, and her aunt Ilse Irizarry.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6th, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2310 Candlewood Drive, Manhattan.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the First Assembly of God Church or Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice, Inc. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 65602.
