The T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter has reopened to the public and is once again accepting adoptions and surrenders.
On December 22, 2021, the Animal Shelter closed to the public due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. While closed to the public, the Animal Shelter was able to maintain staffing levels for internal operations and continue adequate care and feeding of its animals.
"As you may have saw on our Facebook page, our animals had a pleasant holiday break and a happy New Year playing in the snow," said Bryce Caulk, Animal Services Director. "Following the facility closure before Christmas, shelter staff were able to follow COVID-19 guidelines by isolating, monitoring symptoms, and got tested when necessary. We are at a point now where we can open safely with adequate staffing levels."
The T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter is open to the public five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The shelter is closed to the public on Wednesdays, Sundays, and holidays.
