Flying discs and agile dogs descended on Sun Dawg Farms over the weekend for the first UpDog Challenge event to be hosted by Prairie Disc Dogs.
“This was the UpDog challenge. It was our first competition that we’ve hosted. We've been...we host Toss and Fetch League and some other practices and play dates, but this is the first time that we've hosted an actual competition.” Prairie Disc Dogs, Team Captain, Jennifer Anthony says.

The Competition consisted of Frizgility, 4-Way Play, Throw n Go and Time Warp events, showcasing different skills of the dogs and handlers.

“UpDog challenge is fun because it's got a number of different types of games, so, you don't just have to be able to throw far to be able to do well. There's different types of skills that can be rewarded in the games.” Anthony says.

Each event has specific rules and scoring guidelines used to determine the winner of each event, with points given for accomplishing certain criteria.

“Any dog that likes to chase a toy, chase a ball, chase a disk, it can be a good disc dog. We definitely have certain breeds that are more common, but we have had all breeds, all sizes, all ages. Puppies can play as well.” Anthony says.
