🎥 UPDATE: Driver identified in rollover crash on I-70; causes fire, driver life-flighted to hospital

Around 3:30 pm, Emergency personnel were called at to westbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 320 for a single vehicle rollover crash.

The driver, Cynthia Carmack, 54, of Laguna Niguel, California, lost control of the 2022 Audi.

The Audi left the roadway, to the north, for an unknown reason, crashing into the rock embankment before the car rolled several times.

The vehicle came to a stop on the roof, and Carmack was stuck in the vehicle by her seatbelt until emergency crews arrived.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol troopers on the scene, the vehicle caught fire during or shortly after the crash.

Carmack was taken to an area hospital by LifeStar for treatment of suspected serious  injuries.

Riley County Fire District #1, Wabaunsee County Fire, and Alma City Fire all responded to extinguish the grassfire caused by the crash.

Riley County Police Department and Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control through the crash area.
