GEARY COUNTY - On Thursday, April 27, the Kansas Department of Transportation announced they would be postponing the McDowell Creek bridge project for approximately one year.
KDOT announced the change due to conflict with the nearby project on K-177.
Since the McDowell Creek Road project would have further limited access to Interstate 70, the project will now be delayed until 2024, exact dates have yet to be determined.
The project was originally scheduled to begin in May 2023, and during the project all ramps would remain open, however, the overpass on McDowell Creek Road will be closed while KDOT completes a complete bridge deck replacement.
KDOT asks all travelers to be alert and obey warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.
