The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of the area today.

A very high fire danger will develop across portions of north central and central KS late this morning and through the afternoon, as minimum relative humidity values drop below 30 percent and southerly wind gusts increase to 35 to 40 MPH.

The following counties are affected: Republic, Washington, Marshall, Nemaha, Brown, Cloud, Clay, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Jefferson, Ottawa, Dickinson, Geary, Morris, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Douglas, Lyon, Osage, Franklin, Coffey, and Anderson.

Dry conditions are expected to persist for several days, but lower wind speeds should mitigate much of the fire danger.
