RILEY COUNTY—Riley County first responders worked three injury accidents over the Christmas holiday weekend.
Just after 2p.m. Wednesday, officers found a 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by Kenneth Martin, 74, of Milford, had run off the road and hit the guardrail for the overpass in the northbound lane of Seth Child Road at Anderson Avenue, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report. Martin was transported to Via Christi for treatment of minor injuries.
Just before 3p.m. Sunday, officers found a 2009 Nissan Frontier driven by Heather Cunningham, 44, of Manhattan, and a 2014 Toyota Tundra, driven by Stephen Gerard, 62, of Manhattan, crashed into each other at mile marker 185 on Fort Riley Blvd.
EMS transported Cunningham, Gerard and his two passengers, Cheryl Gerard, 63, of Manhattan, and Dean Gerard, 6, of Manhattan to Via Christi for treatment of their injuries. Stephen Gerard was issued a citation for having no child safety restraints. Cunningham was issued a citation for unsafe speed for prevailing conditions.
Just before 3:15p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report on an injury accident at S. Seth Child Road and Fort Riley, according to the RCPD activity report. A Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Jesus Porras-Sandoval, 27, of Manhattan, struck a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 driven by Anthony Capobianco, 27, of Ogden. Porras-Sandoval was transported to Via Christi for treatment and issued a citation for unsafe speed for prevailing conditions and for having no driver’s license.
