
On June 13 at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Riley County Police Department Communication Center received multiple 911 calls regarding the report of a structure fire at Walmart, 101 Bluemont Ave. in manhattan.
The RCPD reported that Manhattan Fire Department (MFD) crews were dispatched to the call and upon arrival, reported Walmart employees extinguishing a fire that was located within the middle of the store. MFD crews provided emergency fire services and ensured the complete extinguishment of the fire.

As of this news release, no injuries have been reported. The amount of property loss from the fire has yet to be determined. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department and Pottawatomie County Emergency Services also responded to the call, providing emergency services and additional assistance.
A report of aggravated arson was filed by detectives and officers of RCPD who worked with MFD fire investigators at the scene.
