Donald Eugene Younkin was born in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Frank and Sarah Younkin on September 19, 1929. He passed away on February 22, 2024.
Donald enjoyed a full life. He served his country well while in the United States Army. He returned to Manhattan to manage the local hardware store until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Kathryn Brenner on December 29, 1950. They enjoyed over 73 years together. They spent time traveling, sharing time with their family, spending time outdoors and often walking the local mall. Don thought the world of Kathryn and cared for her up until the day of his passing.
Don is survived by his wife Kathryn; two sons, Terry and is wife Belle of Spring, Texas, and James and his wife Glenda of Manhattan, Kansas; also, his sister Shriley Shreve of Dallas, Texas; his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday February 29, 2024 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Funeral services will be following the visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at the Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice Inc. Contributions may be sent in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
