1 person hospitalized after house fire in Manhattan

Manhattan—Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire at a home in Manhattan Thursday morning.

Just before  10:30 a.m., the Manhattan Fire Department responded to a fire at a home 521 Bluemont in Manhattan, according to Assistant Fire Chief Sam Dameron.

Upon arrival, crews found a single-story structure with nothing showing. Upon entry, fire crews determined that the fire had been extinguished prior to the arrival fire crews.


The single-family residence received an estimated $100 loss to the contents, according to Dameron.

One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was transported by Riley County Emergency Medical Service to Via Christi Hospital.   The owner of the residence is listed as Ramona Riniker.  Authorities released no additional information.
