SFC (Ret.) Luis J. Nater, 81, a thirty eight year resident of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at St. Francis Medical Center in Topeka, KS.
Cremation will take place followed by a Graveside services that will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, 1:00 p.m at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan, KS with full military honors.
He was born on March 5, 1941, in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Luis Jose Nater and Trinidad Nater (Rodriguez).
Luis served in the United States Army. He retired after twenty four years of service. After his retirement, he worked for the City of Junction City as the director of the water department. He retired after twenty four years of service. Mr. Nater spent forty eight years of his life serving his country and his community. During his service with the city, he was instrumental in the construction of the Buffalo Soldier Memorial and the Rathert baseball stadium. He left a wonderful legacy with his fellow co-workers. After his retirement, he resided in Newberry, FL to be near family. He was a member of The American Legion Post #45.
On July 9, 2007, he married Erica Gliniecki. They recently celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary
Luis is survived by his loving Wife, Erica, his three brothers; Richard, Jose, and Jimmy Nater and their families. He is also survived by his three children and two step-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronald Nater.
