BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.—One person was injured in an accident just after 6:30p.m. Monday in Buchanan County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Freightliner tractor driven by James M. Peterson, 52, Manhattan, was northbound on Interstate 29 just south of the downtown St. Joseph exit.
The vehicle changed lanes into the driving lane and rear-ended a 2012 Nissan Maxima driven by Cheryl L. Carpenter, 56, St. Joseph. After impact the Nissan slid off the road into the median and struck the cable barrier.
Buchanan County EMS transported Carpenter to Mosaic Life Care. Peterson was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
