Penny Lynn Jones, 61, of Ellinwood, KS, passed away on December 5, 2023. She was born on January 23, 1962, in Great Bend, KS to Paul and Lynette Barragan.
Residing in Barton County all of her life, she dedicated many years to serving her beloved patrons at Lumpy’s Bar & Grill. She cherished the connections she made with the community through her work and was known for her friendly and welcoming nature. As well as encouraging those patrons to take part in her ‘photo shoots’.
Penny had a vibrant personality, always looking for the next adventure or perfect photo to capture. She was filled with love and thoughtfulness, particularly for animals. She had a special place in her heart for cats and would go above and beyond to help any animal in need.
She is survived by her children, Rachel (Trent) Dove, Michael (Alicia) Neiman, all of Great Bend, Taylor (Mark) Brungardt, Wichita, Madison Jones, Memphis, Tennessee; brother, Tracy (Michelle) Barragan, Hutchinson and 7 grandchildren who she adored.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley Barragan and her parents, Paul and Lynette.
A ceremony to celebrate Penny’s life will be held at the Great Bend Historical Society, located at 85 US 281, Great Bend, KS 67530 at 2 o’clock, Saturday, January 20, 2024, with Ryan DesLauriers presiding. Friends, family and community members are invited to join in remembering Penny and sharing their memories of her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LADA PAW Rescue or Gentiva Hospice Care, in care of Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502. These organizations were close to Penny’s heart and any support would be greatly appreciated.
