Red flag warnings are in effect in the Flint Hills region Friday as the National Weather Service in Topeka is warning of a very high fire danger.
A red flag warning has been issued for Geary and Riley counties from noon to 8 p.m.Saturday.
Skies will remain sunny and clear, with a 5 to 15 mph south wind. That wind will pick up Saturday, sustained at 10 to 15 mph and gusting to 25 mph.
Highs through the weekend will be in the upper-60s to low-70s. BY Tuesday, the high temperature is expected to be near 80 degrees.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms in the early morning hours Monday, the only precipitation in the long-term forecast.
