Carol Louise Greenway

Carol Louise Greenway (Brunner), Tonganoxie, formerly of Hutchinson, KS passed away April 5, 2023, at age 72. Carol was born on July 29th, 1950, to Eugene and Aliene Brunner in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Carol was raised an Army “brat” and lived in Japan and Germany before moving back to the US. Carol graduated from Manhattan High School, class of 1968.

In 1968, while roller skating with some friends, Carol met her husband, Richard and they were married just a few short months later. They enjoyed 51 years together before his death in 2020. Prior to retirement,

Carol worked as a chef and kitchen manager. Carol spent much of her retirement watching her grandchildren in their activities. Carol volunteered as a caregiver for the mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) through Westside Family Church.

When her grandchildren attended Genesis Christian Academy, Carol volunteered often and helped every week preparing hot lunch. For over 50 years Carol was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Lawrence, KS. She very much enjoyed socializing with friends, going to the casino and she could always be found cheering for her beloved KC Royals, Chiefs and Wildcats.

Carol is survived by her two children, Richard Terry Greenway, Jr. (Candi) of The Colony, Texas, and Rhonda (Greenway) Overacker (Greg) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, three grandchildren, Gabrielle Greenway, Griffin Overacker and Carly Overacker and one great-grand-daughter, Isabella Grace Ruggiero.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, her first grandson, Casey James Overacker, her mother, father, and brother, Larry Brunner. Cremation has taken place at her request.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a small funeral service, which will be held at Quisenberry Funeral Home – 604 E. 4th Street, Tonganoxie, KS 66086 on Saturday, April 22nd,  at 10am. Interment of ashes will take place in a private ceremony at Valley View Memorial Park, 9050 E. Highway 24, Manhattan, KS. 66502
