MANHATTAN - Firefighters in Manhattan got the opportunity to train in the late evening hours this week at a house scheduled for demolition in the coming months.
The property owners, who plan to remove structures from their property, offered the house to be used for training purposes for the Manhattan Fire Department.
Training in existing structures provides the firefighters with more realistic obstacles to overcome when training to improve response time, and communication skills while fighting fires.
During this training the crews were also tasked with finding two 'victims' within the residence, and getting them to safety.
Training took place on multiple nights to give firefighters from each shift the opportunity to participate in the training exercise.
