Christina Purdie - 1969 - 2022

Christina Purdie, 52, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, KS. Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at New Church of the Living God with Pastor James E. Johnson officiating.

Christina was born May 5, 1969, in Hempstead, NY the daughter of Jerry and Ruthann (Sanders) Purdie. She was the youngest of two children.

Christina graduated from Hueytown High School in 1987. She joined the Army in 1987 and honorably discharged in 1995. While in the service, Christina gave birth to three wonderful children, Christopher, Eric, and Nikita. She also attended Bessemer Technical College in Bessemer, Alabama. In 2001, Christina brought the family to Junction City, Kansas, to visit her sister and ended up establishing herself within the community.

She started as a lunch aide at Westwood Elementary and quickly became an integral member of the school. During her time at Westwood, she developed lasting relationships with her colleagues and students. This position advanced her to other positions at Westwood including a paraprofessional and student support monitor. She left nearly a sixteen year legacy of employment at Westwood Elementary. She was very involved in many children's lives with participation in the Boys and Girls Club of Junction City and the Summer Fun Club.

Christina gained new employment working at Konza Prairie Community Health Center in 2016 as a medical receptionist. Her drive and determination pushed her to advance to a medical records clerk. She was relied on by many, and continued to develop flourishing relationships.

Christina was a believer in many things that included her faith, family and those she considered friends. She always put others before herself. She had a unique way of making their pain hers and was happy to see other people happy. She was known to many as their second mom and was always a listening ear. She never judged and loved unconditionally.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Purdie of Junction City, KS and Eric Nabors and his wife Mone of Killeen, TX; one daughter, Nikita Nabors and her fiance Freddy Krugle of Junction City, KS; two grandchildren, Josiah and Xena; one sister, Carsandra Cunningham of Junction City, KS; three nephews, Markell Davis, Phillip Cunningham and Jonathan Cunningham; a host of other relatives and friends and many lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
