Fort Riley’s Military Retiree Appreciation Day set for October 19

Fort Riley and the 1st Infantry Division invite all military retirees to attend the annual Retiree Appreciation Day Oct. 19 at Riley’s Community Center, 446 Seitz Avenue, Fort Riley. Military retirees of all services and their spouses, widows or widowers are welcome. Doors open for registration at 7:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 8:30.

Col. Jerry Nunziato, Fort Riley Garrison Commander, will provide opening remarks to retirees, who will also hear from Col. Laudino Castillo, Irwin Army Community Hospital Commander. Throughout the day guests will get the latest information on TRICARE, Medicare, hospital services and other health care issues, veterans’ affairs, legislative issues, casualty affairs, long-term care insurance and many other topics of concern to military retirees. Many Veteran Service Organizations will also be on hand to provide information to attendees. 

The public-health team from Irwin Army Community Hospital plans to provide vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for influenza, shingles, pneumonia, and tetanus.
