The Geary County Historical Society has received $2000 in grant funding from Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area. The award will help the Black History Trail exhibit, which will be installed mid 2025.

The exhibit will serve as a starting place for those interested in the work of the Black History Trail of Geary County, as well as a home to important Black stories, photos, and artifacts. The Geary County Historical Society has been a supporting organization for the Black History Trail of Geary County since the beginning and is excited to give a permanent home to some of the stories that the Trail has been working to gather.

The Historical Society will begin collecting stories, photos, and artifacts for this exhibit throughout the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. If you have stories, photos, or artifacts to share in the Black History Trail exhibit, reach out to Heather Hagedorn at [email protected] or 785-238-1666.
