Family Nurse practitioner will open a clinic in Milford

Posted Apr 15, 2021 6:33 PM

Shana Roether will operate a nurse practitioner clinic in the City of Milford, beginning this Saturday. She said at the outset it will be open on Thursdays and Saturdays plus evening some evening on-call. Once the client base is built up the clinic will be open full-time six days per week.

The clinic will be located at 103 Smith Street in Milford. Roether, a family nurse practitioner,  does have a medical director, Dr. Jason Hoke of Stone Creek Family Physicians in Manhattan. She will consult with him on a regular basis.

Roether  completed all of residency work with doctors so she can operate her own practice with a medical director. "I'm credentialed to see birth to death so I can see them as soon as they come home from the hospital until they're elderly patients." There will also be visits to serve the home bound. "I can do any procedures ranging from sutures to joint injections."

Roether has served as a first responder for Milford for approximately 18 years. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and is working on a doctorate at Fort Hays State University.

There will be an open house at 103 Smith Street on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Milford was the site where the late Dr.John Brinkley operated a practice and achieved national fame for performing a well-publicized goat gland surgery. During the open house on Saturday goat burgers will be served. Roether noted that they will "try to put some history back into providing medical care here in Milford."
