Betty Klaverweiden

Betty K. Klaverweiden, 95 of Salisbury went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 3, 1927 in Mardela Springs a daughter of the late Elmer and Eva Donoho Cheezum.

Betty met and married Jesse Klaverweiden and together they raised four children and farmed together hand in hand for many years. They raised pigs, a variety of crops and laying hens. She was a wonderful cook and her homemade dumplings were a family favorite. She always remembered each family member’s favorite dish and would make it for them when they came to visit. She always knew how to make others feel loved and had a smile for everyone she met. Betty was the oldest member of Athol Baptist Church where she attended her entire life.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Lowe (Edwin) of Delmar, Bruce Klaverweiden (Nancy) of Kansas, and Brenda New (Chad) of Florida; grandchildren, Stephen Cropper, Jason Cropper, Kim Dodt, David Warren, Renee Warren, Katie Klaverweiden, and Heidi Klaverweiden; six great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and sister by marriage, Irene Gravenor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse Klaverweiden; a daughter, Bonnie Cropper; and siblings, Raymond Cheezum, Weldon Cheezum, Iva Green, Virginia Phillips, and Naomi Gambrill.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11am to Noon on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. The funeral service will begin at Noon on Saturday. Interment will follow at Mardela Cemetery. The family requests that those attending the service please wear a mask.
