Evan William Hopkins, 20, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at
St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born March 6, 2002, in
Garden City, Kansas the son of Todd Alan & Julie Ann (Gallaher)
Hopkins.
Evan grew up in Garden City, where he attended Garden City schools
and graduated from Garden City High School in 2020. He then moved to
Manhattan, Kansas, where he has been an Agronomy student at Kansas State
University. Evan had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending
his time fishing, camping, hiking, and as an Eagle Scout he loved
teaching scouting to younger Boy Scouts. He also had a love for animals
and computers. Evan was a member of Venture Crew, Boy Scouts of
America, and while in high school was on the high school Trap Shooting
Team.
Survivors include his mother Julie Ann Hopkins of Manhattan, KS; a
brother Brendan Hopkins of Manhattan, KS; a sister Cara Hopkins of St.
Louis, MO; and his grandmothers Minnie M. Miller of Garden City, KS, and
Carol Hopkins of Great Bend, KS. Evan is preceded in death by his
father Todd Alan Hopkins; and his grandparents Les Hopkins, William
Gallaher and Kathleen Gallaher.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022,
at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Rev. Warren
Stecklein as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in
Garden City. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at
Garnand Funeral Home in garden City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials given to the Finney County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
