Evelyn M. Webb, 94, of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday May 12, 2024, at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center. She had been a resident of the Wamego community since the mid 1990’s.
Evelyn was born June 14, 1929, in Lucas, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Arkell) Haslett. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1949.
Evelyn married John Rollins Webb on November 23, 1949. After sharing their lives together for forty-eight years when he preceded her in death on February 13, 1998. They graduated from High School together and were active in Geary County 4-H club. Their 4-H club helped build the Rock Spring 4-H Camp and then later Evelyn served as a 4-H leader.
Evelyn and John then worked in the quarter horse business and lived in several different locations in the southwest. Evelyn was a dental assistant for many years and also acted as secretary and receptionist for many of the horse ranches where they worked.
After moving to Wamego, Evelyn was a member and served as a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church. She was involved in many church and community activities. Evelyn was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for several years and a member of the Portia Club, helping in numerous local service projects. She was a good cook and baker and loved cooking for her family. She was known for her homemade bread. Evelyn enjoyed knitting and loved to play golf.
Evelyn is survived by her children; Mary Beth Pfrang, Wamego, Nancy Langdon (Clark), El Paso, Texas, Tom Webb, Wichita, and Amy Scanlon (Mark), Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Matthew Pfrang (Brenda), Wamego, Marcie Robertson (Nelson Lacour), Wamego, Marcus Pfrang, Wamego, Cari Turner (Jess), Amarillo, Texas, Alan Langdon, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Katie Steele (John), Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robert Langdon, Rockwall, Texas, Tommy Webb, Edmond, Oklahoma, Timi Moffatt (Wes), Edmond, Oklahoma, Rani Hantla (Chris), Phoenix, Arizona, Jennifer Brownlee (Mike Morris), Wichita, and Jessica Brownlee, Andover; twenty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Glen Haslett, Vivian King, Floyd Haslett and Bill Haslett.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wamego. Reverend Ron Goodman will be officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held in Wamego City Cemetery at a later time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Memorial Fund and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.
