Uncasing of the colors for the 79th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion is set for Friday at Fort Riley. The ceremony will signify the restationing of the battalion from Fort Hood to Fort Riley.
The ceremony, which is not open to the public, will be held on the Cavalry Parade Field. It will be streamed live at the Fort Riley Facebook page.
Relocation of the 79th EOD to Fort Riley is intended to provide improved mission command and more effect EOD support of 1st Infantry Division missions. The battalion headquarter includes up to 51 Soldiers. At Fort Riley the unit will be aligned with 1st Sustainment Brigade while maintaining its command structure through the 71st Ordnance Group.
