Chuck was born May 10, 1946, in Clay Center, Kansas to Martin Edward (Ed) Bauer and Mildred (Jackson) Bauer.
Chuck worked in his grandfather D.D. Jackson’s electric repair shop and developed a life-long interest in electronics and all things electrical. He was a graduate of Clay County Community High School Class of 1964 and attended an Electronics trade school in Kansas City, Missouri. He made his home in Mission, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. He worked in several electronics businesses as well as the Kansas City, Missouri School District prior to joining the Kansas City Star where he had a 26-year career. He also owned an air conditioning and variety store for 20 years in Kansas City.
Chuck loved motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson, which he rode with a group of friends.
Charlie met Sherry (Walker) Mc Meins in 1979 and they were married April 2, 2004, in Olathe, Kansas. After retirement, Charlie and Sherry moved to Mc Allen, Texas for health reasons.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Parents, Edward Bauer and Mildred Bauer, and brother, Mikel Dale Bauer. He is survived by his wife Sherry and her children, James Mc Meins and Kelly Mc Meins of Olathe, Kansas, five grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his sister, Debora “Debbie” Tillett of Burleson, TX and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at a later date and will be announced by the funeral home.
