Just over 30 years ago, Paula and Darrin Frey took over as owners of 'Subs-N-Such' sandwich shop in Manhattan, Kansas.

In 1992, Paula, who was an employee at 'Subs-N-Such' at the time suggested to the owners it may be time for them to officially retire and sell the business following the owners experiencing some health issues.

The owners then asked Paula if she'd be interested in buying the business.

Paula says she and Darrin discussed buying the sandwich shop, business ownership hadn't been something they'd discussed before the opportunity came up.

Over the last 30 years, 'Subs-N-Such' has moved locations a couple times.

Currently, 'Subs-N-Such' is located inside Dara's Corner Market near the corner of Claflin and Denison.

The Frey's say the signature Kitchen Sink sandwich was part of the menu when they took over.
