Delores E. (Harris) Hunter peacefully passed away August 30, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice House at the age of 90 years old.
Delores was born to Clifford and Ruth (Hobson) Harris on December 15, 1932 in Junction City, KS. As a senior in high school, she met her husband-to-be and soulmate, William (Billy Bob) Hunter, while working at the lunch counter at Duckwalls in Junction City. They married in 1951 and to that loving union brought 2 sons and 3 daughters. Delores’ life revolved around caring for her loving husband, children and doting over their grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a dog lover, she always enjoyed having a family companion in the home. Delores enjoyed many activities with her family, but was especially fond of memories when the family regularly worked together at Woods’ Manhattan Raceway Park. Delores and Billy Bob enjoyed entertaining friends and family in their beautiful backyard, playing cards, going to local dances, collecting antiques, garage sales, and routinely traveling to Tucson, AZ and other parts of the country to visit relatives. They thoroughly enjoyed leisure time together.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Jill Hunter Day, and four grandchildren: Ryan Day, Lauren (Zack) Rust, Rick (Andrea) Stephens and Tim Stephens. She also had seven great-grandchildren: Finley and Clay Rust, Ellie and Mya Stephens, Hunter Robinson, Colby and Jacob Stephens; and two step-brothers Bob (Rosie) Klotz and Dennis (Brenda) Klotz.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; step mother Rose Oberg; her loving husband of 58 years; four children: Nancy Stephens-Ramsey, Ricky, Steve and Jennifer Hunter; grandson Jeremy Ribeau; one sister Roberta Dinsmore; two half-sister’s Marguerite Ingle and Betty Lou Farrell; and a half-brother Clifford Harris Jr.
Family and friends are invited to Pray the Rosary at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 8th, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 303 16th St., Ogden, KS. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Don Zimmerman as Celebrant. Following the mass service inurnment will be at St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Ogden.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice for memorial contributions. Contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.
