City of Manhattan facilities, including City Hall, Municipal Court, the recreation centers, Flint Hills Discovery Center, Sunset Zoo, Animal Shelter and other City offices, will be closed through the business day on Wednesday for an all-day citywide training. (Certain operations such as water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, and fire station staffing, along with other emergency staffing, will continue to ensure critical services are maintained.)

According to a social media release by the City you can access online services, by visiting  www.cityofmhk.com. Citizens also can still call these numbers to:• Report a water quality/pressure concern: (785) 587-4550• Report a sewer backup concern: (785) 587-4555 Residents also can always use the Report It! app to report any non-emergency issues you see across the community.

This training opportunity for City employees helps the City make significant progress toward Goal 1 of the City’s recently adopted Strategic Plan, to maintain a “well-run City organization.” Specifically, Action 1.7 of this goal calls for the creation of a “robust professional development program for all employees.” All City offices will reopen for regular business at 8 a.m. Thursday.
