Mary Sue (Spittles) Hottman was born November 17, 1943 in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Freeman) Spittles. Mary Sue graduated from St. Xavier High School in Junction City.
She married Bobby Leister on December 2, 1961 and had four children, later divorcing. She then married Frankie Dean Hottman on November 9th, 1974. Together they had 2 sons.
Mary Sue was a homemaker and also cooked at several restaurants including the Whitehouse Motel, Round Up Café, and was a head cook at the Kirby House Restaurant.
She is survived by her loving husband Frankie of the home, other survivors include her children Scott Bradley Leister and his wife Sherry of Abilene, Dirk Edward Leister and his wife Alana of Wichita, Wendy Kay Surritte and her husband David of Abilene, Demas Matthew Hottman of Wichita, Damon Michael Hottman and his wife Jill of Kansas City, Kansas, stepdaughter Kimberly Hottman Ayers of Salina, mother in law Esther Hottman of Enterprise, eleven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Melissa Ann Leister, her parents, her sister Norma Jean Baughman, brothers Paul Frederick Spittles, Robert George Spittles, Edward Spittles, and her father in law Jack Hottman,
Mary Sue was a little spitfire with a great since of humor and was also one of the best cooks around. She might have been tiny but you never underestimated her because of that. She could be tough when needed. Her family will miss her dearly.
Cremation is planned. Celebration of Life with Family will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Abilene Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Sue Hottman Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
