This Saturday, July 11, at 10:00 a.m., downtown Junction City will be the site of a longhorn cattle drive. The cattle drive is part of this Saturday's Main Street Market.
The longhorn cattle will cross the 6th Street Bridge from the JC Sale Barn and make their way up North Washington Street, joined by the 1st Infantry Division's Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard and Miss Rodeo Kansas. The Abilene Gunfighters will also be part of the cattle drive.

Terry Butler, the mayor of Junction City and president of the Board for Junction City Main Street, coordinates the cattle drive and is excited for it to be returning to downtown JC once again. "I just want to invite our community out for the cattle drive," Mayor Terry Butler said. "This is another great opportunity to bring the community out downtown."
The Main Street Market runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 901 North Washington St. on Saturday. The cattle drive will pass by the market, while the Mounted Color Guard will stay at the market as part of the market activities following the cattle drive.
"When we are done with the cattle drive, stay downtown," Butler said. "Come to the market, eat lunch, shop, just hang out, and let it be your gathering place."
