Old-fashioned Christmas celebration Abilene

Dickinson Country Historical Society is holding an old-fashioned Christmas Dec. 4-5, from 4-8 p.m. at the Heritage Center grounds at 412 South Campbell Street in Abilene. 

There will be an appearance by Santa Claus and children's crafts in the Kellogg schoolhouse, as well as hot chocolate and fudge for sale in the Burklund's grocery store. Seven 4H clubs participating in the tree decoration contest. 

The celebration includes rides on the 1901 C.W. Parker Carousel and three live bands playing Christmas music in the museum over the two-day event. Entry is $2 per person. Kids five and under are free. 

Families can get a photo in a Christmas sleigh for $5, with horse and buggy rides between Heritage Center and Old Abilene Town. 

The tree scene features a live Nativity by Faith Lutheran church of Abilene.
