Dana Eldon Moen - September 26, 1965 - May 30, 2022

Staff Sgt. Dana Moen, Chapman, KS was born Sept. 26,1965 in Grand Forks, ND. He was far too young, 56, at the time of his death. Dana was looking forward to retirement, and had lots of hobbies that would have kept him busy including his love of working on projects to maintain his properties, boating, movies, photography, riding his bikes, shooting pool or having a beer with friends. Dana had a love of adventure, family, and was always ready to lend anyone a helping hand. He spent the majority of his life serving our country in the military including several deployments, and had been recently promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Dana was the Public Affairs NCO, 101st Military History Detachment. He also held a full time civilian position with ECS 33 in Fort Riley, KS. He often spoke of his coworkers - he enjoyed both of his positions and wanted to make a difference. His coworkers will remember his joking and sense of humor. He also worked at Coors Brewery for several years.

Dana was always active in his community and was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks, Life Member of the VFW, and was a volunteer firefighter.

He is survived by his mother Bonnie Moen, and sisters Susan (David) Kinzler and Laura (Mike) Zontelli, his nieces and nephews, Tyler (Katie) Kinzler, Kyla (Zach) Temple, Carly(Zach) Keller, Anne (Ben) Zontelli Zins, Zack Zontelli and their children, his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Denis Moen, and his grandparents. His family will remember his kind heart and his many contributions to society. Dana will be greatly missed.

Services for Dana will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery near Manhattan, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard and by the American Legion Post #240 of Chapman, Kansas.
