Terry Wayne Monihen, age 76 of Council Grove and formerly of Riley, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove.
He was born on February 28, 1948, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, the son of James and Betty (Burkeholder) Monihen.
On July 7, 1973, he married Martha Sue Miles. She survives of the home.
Terry was a barber at the Fort Riley Barber Shop for 26 years and was a custodial supervisor at Kansas State University for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Army and received many medals while serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the Masons and the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved attending and watching his grandchildren’s school activities, especially their sporting events.
In addition to his wife Martha Monihen, he is survived by two sons, Aaron Monihen and Cheryl of Alta Vista and Brent Monihen and Shannon of Cedar Point; three daughters, Jennifer VanSickle and Brian of Riley, Ronda Fagan and Rex of McVeytown, Pennsylvania, and Rebecca Monihen of Manhattan; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, James Isett, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Lynn Todaro; two great grandchildren, Hope Madalynn Pryor, and Rowan John Pryor; his brother, Donald Monihen and his wife Barbara, and his sister, Janet Isett.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Riley Cemetery with Brent Monihen and John Pryor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Terry Monihen Memorial Fund and left in care with the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
