RCPD investigates $4,300 in fraudulent liquor purchases

RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a series of alleged financial crimes involving liquor purchases in Riley County.

Just after 10a.m. Thursday, officers filed a report for theft and criminal use of a financial card in the 1100 block of Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report. Rickels Liquor and a 58-year-old woman reported two unknown suspects fraudulently bought liquor with the victim’s credit card. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $709.40. 

Just before 11:30a.m. Thursday, officers filed a report for theft and criminal use of a financial card in the 1100 block of Westport Drive in Manhattan. Fridge Wholesale Liquor and a 58-year-old woman reported two unknown suspects fraudulently bought liquor with the victim’s credit card. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,605.12.

Just before 3:30p.m. Thursday, officers filed a report for theft and criminal use of a financial card in the 500 block of North 12th Street in Manhattan. Library Liquor reported two unknown suspects fraudulently bought liquor from the business. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $703.36. 

Just after 3:30p.m. Thursday, officers filed a report for theft and criminal use of a financial card in the 100 block of Riley Avenue in Ogden. Liquor Well reported two unknown suspects fraudulently bought liquor from the business. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $370.55.
