MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - The Riley Co. Police Department (RCPD) is asking for the public’s help in regard to a shooting at Tate’s Bar in Aggieville Sunday morning.
A source familiar with the situation told 13 NEWS a K-State football player was among two injured in the Aggieville Bar.
GoPowerCat reports the player was attempting to stop the shooter: “According to social media reports, at least one player on the Kansas State football team was wounded in the incident and while the investigation is ongoing, one source said it appeared that the player was attempting to stop the person with the gun.”
According to RCPD, the shooting took place just before 1:30 Sunday morning at the bar.
RCPD says officers arrived on the scene immediately after the shots were fired and found a 24-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and a second 24-year-old male suffering from a minor head injury (concussion). Both victims were transported to Via Christi for treatment of their injuries. The victim suffering from the gunshot wound was later life-flighted to Stormont Vail for further treatment.
Police said there was no longer a threat by 3:00 am.
Law enforcement is looking for any pictures or videos inside or around Tate’s leading up to, during, or immediately after the shooting.

Sunday Afternoon, a University Official told 13 NEWS that a student was injured during the shooting.
Kansas State University issued a statement on their Facebook page offering support to students who may have been affected by the shooting.
“Students who are affected by the shooting in the Aggieville business district are encouraged to contact Counseling and Psychological Services at 785-532-6927 or the Office of Student Life at 785-532-6432 or via email at [email protected]. Both offices will be open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13. A wide range of university support resources is available to the K-State community, if you or someone you know is experiencing distress, please seek help.”
