James H. Butler, age 74 passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital, Manhattan, KS. He was born on Dec. 17, 1949, in Fort Riley, KS. James was the son of Frank and Opal (Roller) Butler.
In 2002, he married his wife, Janet (Anderson) Butler in Junction City, KS
James was a retired police officer for the Junction City Police Dept. He loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and was a proud, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Anderson) Butler, KS; 3 sons, Bailey Cowardin, CO, Everett Cowardin, KS, Jesse (Pam) Butler, OR; 3 daughters, Sandy (Derek) Waleko, TX, Amanda (Frank) Schiavo, KS, Lauren (Tyler) Butler, MD; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
James was preceded in death by both parents and a son, Matt Butler.
