Benjamin Phillip Anguiano, 83 of Abilene passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born February 13, 1941 in Manchester, Kansas, the son of Silvestre R. Anguiano and Maria “Mary” Garcia.
Ben grew up in the Manchester area, and attended the local grade school and middle school before going to high school in Chapman. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. Ben was proud of his services. On November 7, 1966 he was united in marriage to Kathryn (Kay) Sackrider in Minneapolis, Kansas. Ben worked for Walter Morgan Construction in Manhattan, Kansas. He retired May of 2003.
Ben is survived by his loving family, two sons: Benjamin P. Anguiano Jr. and wife Tiffany and Marcus E. Anguiano and partner Nadine Jalbert, one daughter, Patricia “Patti” Marie Anguiano. Three grandsons, Donovan T. Anguiano and wife Madison; Braden L. Anguiano and Hunter B. Anguiano and step-granddaughter, Patience Jalbert. Five sisters: Nellie Barrett; Lucy Davis; Eleanor (Patty) Anguiano; Frances Sanchez and Celia Gonzales. Two brothers: Joe Anguiano of Enterprise and Junior Anguiano and wife Mary Ann. Sister-in-laws: Shirley Anguiano; Patricia Anguiano; Barb Hulen; Jane Lawson; Mary Sackrider. Brother-in-law,: Robert Sackrider and wife April and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Kay Anguiano, parents, brother, Steve Esteban Anguiano, David Lee Anguiano; Sister-in-law; Mary Ann Wittbrodt; parents-in-laws, Mary and Wash Sackrider; brother-in-laws, Sunny Davis, Gene Davis, George Barrett, Henry Sanchez, Sam Gonzalas, Mike Sackrider and Charles Sackrider.
Family has chosen cremation. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00
a.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. Inurnment will follow with military honors at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
