Governor Kelly has announced the selection of Junction City as a participant in the Kansas Main Street Program.  It will give the community access to key technical services and networking opportunities to help revitalize the downtown area. Also selected for the program were Atchison and Baldwin City.

The three cities participated in a competitive application process for the program. They are the first communities to be selected since the program was relaunched by the Kansas Department of Commerce in 2019.

Jeff Underhill, Junction City Mayor, said the community is pumped at the Main Street opportunity. "The outpouring of support throughout the entire community, not just the downtown has been tremendous."  Businesses and entities provided support for the community's application. "And the whole town is really abuzz over this opportunity."

Those attending the selection announcement also heard that the program can be of assistance in recruiting and growing businesses, and can be a source for civic and state pride.
