Roy G. Head, age 88, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, KS. He was born on May 21, 1936, to Ray and Doris (Wieble) Head, Leonardville, KS.

Roy married Shari (Johnson) Head on August 26, 1957, in Junction City, KS.

Roy was an Army Reserve Veteran who obtained the rank of Second Lieutenant. After serving in the reserves, he worked as a teacher for one year before returning to college and earning a master's degree. He then had a thirty-year civil service career, finishing as a comptroller at Fort Riley. Roy was also an avid Kansas State fan.

Roy is survived by his wife, Shari, Manhattan, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Bonnie Kidd, and his son, David Charles Head, who passed in 2012.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at Bottle Caps in Manhattan on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 1-4 p.m.

He will be laid to rest at Milford Cemetery, Milford, KS at a later date.
