WAMEGO, KS – Attorney and business owner Kenny Titus filed to become a candidate for State Representative for the 51st District of Kansas, which covers Wabaunsee County and the Highway 24 corridor from Wamego to eastern Manhattan. Titus, his wife Kara, and two sons, have resided in both Wamego and Manhattan and experienced first-hand the challenges families face when it comes to jobs, housing, childcare, education, and other important services in the region.

“In order to fully capitalize on our region’s economic potential, we need to unlock resources that will help our workforce grow. This means finding affordable housing solutions and ensuring both safe and affordable childcare, "said Titus.

In addition to a focus on economic growth, Titus strongly supports the “Value Them Both” amendment and the right to life, Second Amendment rights, expansion of the agricultural industry, and development of broadband internet in rural communities.

The 51st District is currently represented by Dr. Ron Highland, who announced Monday that he will not seek re-election. Highland has served the district for ten years and provided the following endorsement:

“Kenny is a dedicated public servant, working tirelessly to advance the agriculture industry in Kansas. I’ve worked together with Kenny on many projects. I know he will represent the values of the district well and hit the ground running on day one in Topeka.”

Titus currently serves as Chief Counsel to the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Titus is one of the state’s experts on water law and led the effort to implement Kansas’ industrial hemp program. He plans to move into private law practice by the end of the year. He is co-owner of National Sports Network, a nationally syndicated play-by-play broadcast network. He attended law school at the University of Kansas where he also serves as an adjunct professor. He received his M.A. in History and B.S. degrees in Journalism and History from Kansas State University.
