National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory in effect until midnight

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations   of 1 to 6 inches, highest on the north side of the advisory,  and ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch.

* WHERE...Pottawatomie, Riley, Jackson, Geary and Dickinson counties.

* WHEN...A light wintry mixture early this morning will  intensify by sunrise. The period of heaviest precipitation  will be between 6 am and 6 pm, with light snow or freezing  drizzle possibly lingering through the evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be a sharp cutoff in snowfall amounts on the southeastern side of this snow band with northern and western parts of the counties seeing the higher snow amounts. Northeast to north winds gusting up to 25 mph could also cause some blowing snow.
