Kansas State University’s Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus has added 17 brand new airplanes to the K-State fleet.

The university added the new aircraft to meet industry demands for students equipped with experience in more diverse systems and faster airplanes. K-State Salina how has 10 new Cessna 172 Skyhawks, a plane it has utilized since the program’s inception. Through a strategic partnership with Cirrus Aircraft, it has bought five new Cirrus aircraft featuring innovative electronic stability and safety systems and advanced avionics.

K-State also has two new Beechcraft Baron G58s for complex, multi-engine training. The plane is the pinnacle of K-State flight program, preparing graduates for professional careers in a powerful and sophisticated aircraft. The university says the diversification of its fleet allows students to start training in a more foundational aircraft before moving into high-performance with advanced avionics and higher speeds.

K-State says the increase will also help to accommodate surging numbers of aviation enrollment.
