Weather could get rough this week

UPDATE:

The National Weather Service said a strong and impactful storm system is set to affect the area tonight into Wednesday.

● Multiple hazards are expected during this timeframe, including potentially severe thunderstorms, strong non-thunderstorm winds and accumulating snow.

● Blizzard or near-blizzard conditions could occur with the combination of strong winds and falling snow Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning

  Geary County Emergency Management passed along information from the National Weather Service.

A strong system is set to impact the area Monday night through Wednesday. A round of thunderstorms is expected Monday night into early Tuesday. A few more storms could develop Tuesday afternoon. Hail and damaging winds are the main concerns.

Winds then increase, with gusts to 50 and 60 mph Tuesday night and Wednesday. Rain changes to snow Tuesday evening and night. Blizzard conditions will be possible north of I-70 due to the strong winds. Snow ends by sunrise Wednesday with generally around one inch of accumulation.
