MANHATTAN - Four Manhattan High School students have been announced as semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The semifinalists from MHS are Bepeh Amama, Lillian Brooks-Kanost, Julius Neumann, and Vinny Sun.
There were approximately 16,000 students selected in the Semifinal round with an anticipated 15,000 students expected to advance to the Finalist round.
If the students advance to the Finalists round, they will be notified in February .
“The Manhattan High School community is very excited and happy for our National Merit Semi-Finalists,” states MHS Principal Michael Dorst. “Their dedication to school, hard work, and activities is admirable, and the support of family, teachers, and friends is what makes this recognition possible.”
Merit Scholars are selected based on skills, accomplishments, and potential success rate in college coursework, without taking into consideration gender, race, ethnicity or religious preference.
