There will be a new permanent exhibit called Prairie Playscape at the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan. It will be an interactive, hands-on-exhibit for children beginning May 27.

Prairie Playscape will feature three themed areas – exploring the land, working the land, and sharing the land – where children can learn about the Kansas Flint Hills. With 13 new interactive stations, it will provide endless entertainment and education for children of all ages. Regular admission rates apply.

The FHDC Foundation has been working towards this renovation since 2019. Prairie Playscape is the single largest project to date for the FHDC Foundation, with a fundraising goal of $1.5 million. No taxpayer money was used.

“Prairie Playscape was created to help children celebrate the Flint Hills,” Bruce Snead, Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation President, said. “The Foundation will be forever grateful to donors who made this project possible”.
