Downtown Manhattan has announced that they will play host to the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, September 7th at 7pm. Bring your lawn chairs to the Riley County Courthouse plaza on Poyntz Avenue and enjoy music that embodies the Flint Hills with a performance entitled “Home on the Range.”

Saturday evenings performance is dedicated to the memory of Donna Scheele. She was the President of Downtown Manhattan, Inc, a lover of the arts, music and the Flint Hills and championed the creation of an arts forward downtown district. She was posthumously awarded the 2024 Downtown Steward of the Year award given by her peers. Her son Damen accepted the award on her behalf.

“Donna would have loved a beautiful evening in downtown, listening to the symphony performance” said Executive Director Gina Snyder. “She was a true steward of our neighborhood and I know she would be honored.”

The Symphony on the Plaza is free. Please bring your lawn chairs or blankets. The Hungry Chickpea will be onsite with fresh made sandwiches and salads for purchase. This event is made possible by our Downtown Partner, Finn’s Neighborhood Pub.
