New Year, New Look for the Miller Ranch Water Tower

City release

As we ring in the new year, the Miller Ranch water tower is welcoming 2026 with a fresh new look. Recently repainted to feature the City of Manhattan flag, the tower now stands as both a functional piece of infrastructure and a visible symbol of community pride.

The City announced that the project was completed by USG, the City’s contractor under a 10-year water tower maintenance agreement that runs through 2030. Through this agreement, all elevated and ground storage tanks receive annual washouts and inspections, along with one full interior and exterior rehabilitation during the contract period.

The Miller Ranch tower had been out of service since November while crews completed a full interior rehabilitation. Improvements included interior painting, structural repairs, and additional upgrades to bring the tower up to current standards. Looking ahead, the City will continue this proactive maintenance approach with the Northwest (Colbert Hills) Tower scheduled for rehabilitation in 2026, followed by the Bluemont Hill Tank in 2027. Together, these projects reflect an ongoing commitment to safe, reliable infrastructure—and a fresh start for the new year
