The Veterans of Foreign Wars is spotlighting Brian Coleman, part of its National Veterans Services team, for helping military members navigate the VA disability claims process before they leave the military.

Coleman works with Fort Riley soldiers 180 to 90 days before separation, helping them prepare and submit claims while they are still in uniform. For many, the process can feel confusing and overwhelming. Coleman helps make it manageable by reviewing records, gathering documentation and often submitting claims the same day. It helps ease the burden of transition by removing one of the most daunting tasks on a service member’s path to civilian life.

An Army member thanked Coleman for his careful review of medical records and detailed preparation of a Benefits Delivery at Discharge claim, saying his guidance brought reassurance during a daunting process and made it easier to understand both health care and veterans benefits.

Coleman says soldiers can be relieved to have someone walk them through the process and help them secure the benefits they earned through service.
