Patrick Andrew “Pat” Seeman, 83, passed away April 13, 2023, at Diversicare of Larned.
Pat was born November 23, 1939, the oldest of 6 children, to Junior and Maudie (Hill) Seeman in Larned, KS. He attended a country school north of Larned close to his family farm. Later, he lived with his grandparents while attending Larned High School, graduating in 1957.
Pat received track and football scholarships to Garden City Community College. Shortly before graduating, a new coach at Garden City Community College recruited him to play at Oklahoma State University. However, the National Guard called him to serve. He spent several months at Ft. Smith in Arkansas. He later attended 1 year at Fort Hays State University. He met and married Laurie Niedens, they were married for over 56 years, later divorcing.
Pat began his long banking career with BIC in Great Bend, KS. He was transferred around the state as he worked his way up. In 1976, he was hired by the First State Bank of Larned and was able to return to his home town as a loan officer, primarily focusing on ag lending.
He enjoyed over 20 years of refereeing football and basketball. Pat was an avid hunter and trapper, actually being appointed by the State of Kansas to trap nuisance animals. He spent time volunteering with Pheasants Forever.
After his retirement, Pat spent years attending Carr Auctions buying and collecting antiques, particularly enjoying art glass and pottery.
He is survived by: two children, Shellie Thill, husband David, of Bella Vista, AR, Michael Seeman and wife Leigh Anne of Larned, KS; four grandchildren and three step grandchildren: Emilie Thill, fiancé Brad Carlson, Kansas City, MO, Ashlie Nevola, husband Dylan, Kansas City, MO, Thomas Thill, wife Haley, Derby, KS, Katie Carlton, husband Brian, Larned, KS, Tyler Stelter, Orlando, FL, Megan Stelter, Salina, KS, and Jack Stelter, Manhattan, KS; two great grandchildren, Emmett and Jocee Carlton, Larned, KS; two brothers, Steven (Michelle) Seeman, Larned, KS, Mark (Becky) Seeman, Salina, KS; two sisters Jody (Don) Crosby, Diamond Head, MS, Susan (Vance) Smith, Larned, KS.
The family would like to thank cousins George and Connie Seeman who provided hours of support and friendship, as well as Pawnee Valley Community Hospital and Diversicare of Larned for the health care he received.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Duncan and his wife Katie.
Pat was a Christian.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at
Beckwith Mortuary with Pastor David Spare presiding. Inurnment will be
in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
